I have an older Eliche Radice prop (on my GK29 with a Beta 16) which is starting to get play in the blades. Before I bother shimming/ replacing pins I wondered if I would get better performance from a Flexofold or Gori.

There doesn't seem to be much information online comparing the two, when YBW did their test the Radice didn't arrive in time so no comparison there.

Anything I have been able to find is at least 15 years old, and I assume flexofold have continued to improve in that time.

Is it worth spending £1k on a new prop or should I just keep on with the Radice?

If you have been reasonably happy with your existing folding prop then why spend extra ££££. I'd shim/repin the existing and put the money saved toward a new sail. I expect a new Flexofold may give you a marginal improvement but a new sail would be much more satisfying.

I think it might be north of £1k for a new Flexofold! We paid nearly £1k for a flexofold in 2012 when we changed the small egg whisk fixed prop on our Westerly Konsort mated to a BukhDV24. Very impressed with the extra sailing performance, but you already benefit from that. Also very impressed with the improved motoring performance, but don't know how much of an improvement you will see over your Radice.

I agree with alahol2, probably best to refurb your existing prop. But speak to Darglow engineering (which is where we got our flexofold from) and I'm sure they can advise you on benefits and price. They are probably a good bet for refurbing your current prop and local to you.

Older Radice is rather primitive by today's standard both in terms of design and quality of manufacture. Flexofold would definitely be better for both motoring performance and life. don't have latest prices but the difference between the 2 may not be huge. If you so change Flexofold would be a better buy
