We've got a couple of 16" folding pedal bikes on board. I would like to replace them with 16" folding electric bikes. There are plenty to be found on internet sites but I don't like buying without seeing first.

Has anyone got an electric folder they would recommend? I think its best to stick to 16" wheels rather than the more popular 20" as storage space is tight.

Recommendations appreciated thanks.

GOCYCLE G2R

15.6 kg with battery and electric motor in the front wheel hub. 40 mile range.

Only drawback: €3399.

Got one of these and it's a great bike. I'm a big bloke and the power assist copes really well. 40 mile range, good build quality, stows easily on my boat and great for the IOW. Just did a ride from Waterlooville to Haslar Marina via the Gosport ferry and back again, was never out of breath even with Portsdown Hill in the way and it was very warm today. Certainly worth a look.

I've seen these on the auction site and similar ones like the Wayfarer pro rider. The only concern is the 20 inch wheels, and how small they fold. I have 3 *16 inch pedal cycles on board and they fill the available space.

At a push, (never mind the pun), I could go for 1 20inch and 2 16inch powered bikes.

We can get two in the back of a Matiz with space to spare, a decent bike shop will be will be willing to let you try them, this is a time when a real retailer wins

We looked at the Halfords bike and some others and ended up buying a pair of these. Fold easily not too heavy and dealers seem to have margin to play with so will do deals.

A colleague at work had a bike with the style of battery shown on these, and found that there were recurring problems with the battery terminals. Of course, they carry a large current, and they melted once or twice! Fortunately his dealer was sympathetic and replaced and upgraded the setup, but the take-home message is to check that the means by which the battery is connected to the motor.
