I'm thinking of changing some of the cushion foam on my boat. I have done a few checks on the internet and am surprised at the prices. Is there anywhere that does good quality foam for a reasonable price?

We went for an Ikea foam mattress cut with electric carving knife after getting outrageous quotes fromn the local upholsterers.

Depends on your definition of "quality" and "reasonable". There are many different grades and thicknesses. Suggest you try a specialist such as www.cbscc.co.uk based in Bristol to get a base quote and then make comparisons with others based on a known standard.

Also look at IKEA, as their mattresses are very cheap, and presumably are to the relevant fire standard etc.

I spent a LOT of time trawling the internet finding out the most reasonable foam suppliers and I finally found these people: http://www.acefoam.co.uk (I'm not affiliated with them in any way!) I've been looking for a complete set of cusions for my 25ft dufour (V berth and 2 x quarter berths with back rests) and they come out nearly half the price of the others that are quoting on tinternet.

Many thanks for this, that is about 2 miles from my house and did not know about it. Looking to make up some cockpit cushions, appears to be a good start

I'm not sure what other prices you have found, but I bought foam for a previous boat from http://www.smfoam.co.uk/ and received both good service and good (having done many comparisons at the time) prices. They are in Cardiff, but shipped to me in Cornwall at what I recall was a very reasonable rate.

They will cut to size, but as planteater suggests, it is very easy to cut the foam with an electric carving knife!
