Can anyone recommend cheap place to acquire foam for mattress? I've been quoted some ludicrous prices for a bit for my aft double berth - more than I paid for the sprung one I have at home...

The nearer to Devon the better.

I got my new fire resistant covered foam cushions from Ian Cook & Son, Foam Suppliers, Tremoddrett Farm, Roche, Cornwall. (Not far from the Eden Project).
Phone, 01726 890206.

The price was more than reasonable, and far,far lower than "marine" suppliers. Recently, a friend has just had his boat cushions made up by Ian Cook.

BTW, my house name is Trevethan (since 1956). Where did you find Trevethan??

regards,
Philip

Try Sherlock foams. They are in the midlands somewhere and advertise in PBO. We had one delivered to Paris when we were going through the canals last year. We were so pleased we ordered another for the other forward berth a few weeks ago.

Trevethan is my surname. There's quite a few of us about - There's a Trevethan Road in Falmouth, and a voting ward of the same name. There are gravestones in St Just in Roseland churchyard (prettiest place in the world in my vieew) inscribed Trevethan too. My part of the family comes from Helston. Though most of us seem to live in Devon these days and strangely enough Brighton.

The name translates as farm or house under the trees. There's a coat of arms out there somewhere too.

Mytten da!

Nick
