Then you are wrong. The majority care. Only beginners, anarchists, sociopaths, and people with a juvenile sense of humour fly pirate flags, Union flags, and "Scottish merchant flags", in the place of an ensign. The rest of us dislike the way you trample on our traditions and assume you are either ignorant or incompetent.

I not an anarchist or sociopath, which means I'm a beginner with a juvenile sense of humour. I think that sums me up and I apologise for the way my Union Jack from the mizzen peak and Vatican City Naval ensign from the starboard spreaders offends you. It's not personal and I genuinely can't help my love of flags and the way they brighten my day. The thought of only flying one would make me feel very sad. BTW I can legally fly a dark blue, a light blue and a quite cool defaced red, I am addicted however and love the sight of a Union Jack at the masthead, it looks soooooo cool.

The Scottish red ensign is an historical flag that predates the current 'red duster' - prior to 1707 it was flown by ships of the Royal Scots Navy. It is nothing to do with the referendum.

I am astounded that this subject has raised so much bile. I was merely commenting that a lot more Scottish yachts are choosing to fly it this year.
