Flood warning for tidal Medway

Was def a biggy.................
Somebody has defaced the nearest mooring pile on my pontoon with various marks and dates.
HW yesterday more or less matched a previous big spring last year, however peak was a least a couple of feet below top of sea wall opposite.
Prior heavy rain in the Medway catchment plus low pressure or NE wind and would have been a different story.
Normally takes 24 hours for flood water in upper Medway and tributories to reach the tidal section.
Recent programme on radio about the 1953 floods which did affect areas aroud the Medway but Essex took the full brunt.

The water was lapping over the causeway to Horrid Hill off Gillingham at HW yesterday, never seen that before. I think the strong Westerly made it worse.
 
Yes OG I agree in general and definitely at Chatham, but you rarely see much water or for very long over at Mariners or in Rainham creek unless there some W in the wind.
