I have been unable to identify the make of this floating rope, so would appreciate if anyone could identify it and whether it is available in the UK. O.D. is about 7mm. It was supplied originally with a danbuoy.

Is it necessary to have exact same ? Most of the lighter synthetic ropes float in fact ... so isn't it a matter of colour / size only ?

Needs to be the same OD since it fits in a groove in the danbuoy
What I've been struggling to find is the braid on braid construction with "solid" core.
I can find hollow ones, plaited ones etc but can't find the one pictured.

That's not a solid core that's why .... that is braid on braid ....
And a Danbuoy doesn't need a very strong rope .... as long as it does its job .. that's fine.

I'm informed that people expect 8mm on a dan buoy line...
However, even PP has a breaking strain of around a tonne at 8mm which makes you wonder what they're expecting to happen to the danglee.
Should've said, you also need a bag for PP rope, as it dissolves in UV.

Indeed the PP should be in a bag, but there's about half a meter that runs down from the danbuoy to the bag that's exposed; I have been thinking about inserting a short length of non PP.

I always thought that it was only polypropylene rope which floats in water and that nylon and polyester both sink although I admit to knowing very little about rope.
