This product has been suggested to replace impractical cream carpet in galley area on boat.

Does anyone know of a supply and fitter of the stuff in Solent area?

Thanks

Nick

Thanks all

I have just spoken to a very helpful Martin Frizzel of Golden Arrow who is sending me some samples etc. He reckons that it is fine for inside use.

So what is flexyteak? compared to standard teak planks.

Is it a cheaper and better option? Does it wear any better?

Is there any advantage over the standard stuff??

<hr width=100% size=1>CHEERS.

Flexi Teek is man made and comes in strips just like real teak. It appears to be an extrusion made up of many strands of stighlty differing colour plastic which gives it a grain. It can be sanded without altering the grain - it goes right through. As it is a plastic it is flexible and can be bent with the use of heat. The rolls of the extrusion have moulded in caulking and you can buy sheets to cut out larger pieces.

The benefits as I could see are it does a very good impression of teak but is easy to look after. It is about 1/3rd cheaper, it does not fade or stain and can be laid by competent DIYer. The downside is that it isn't real teak, but IMHO much better than the cheap veneered ply that most boatbuilders offer now.

You won't get confused by me, Mate. Tek-Dek sounds very similar to the descriptions of Flexiteak. Have a look at the Tek-Jet just click past it as it won't fit on your davits.
