Flat screw driver bit, very wide

A few years ago I bought a set of impact slotted screwdrive bits on eBay, not to use as impact bits but just to use with the socket set as very wide screwdrivers. I also bought a long screwdriver with a wide slotted end, possible 1cm, but not as wide as the impact bits.

I'll see if I can find a link.

These go up to 10mm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TIMCO-STE...WDRIVER-25mm-LENGTH-INSERT-SLOT-/191708666755

These screwdrivers go right up to 14mm but are a lot more expensive, of course. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WERA-CHI...%3Adb860c8f1600aa162149dc79ffddb231%7Ciid%3A1

Found when faced with a similar requirement for a wide slotted head down in the base of a Harken winch that a cheap hex section cold chisel (B and Q) could be ground to a perfect fit in the slot and turned with a molegrip. The alternative of buying a large screwdriver was £20 plus and difficult to establish that it would fit the slot.

I needed something like this, about 25mm wide, a while back. For an alloy part on a motorbike.
I used a chisel from a pound shop, ground to fit with a bench grinder. Took a few minutes to make. After spending 10 minutes finding the chisel.
Worked perfectly without marking the alloy part.

For future yiu could get long large joiners screwdriver bits that fitted into a brace . The biggest one I have has a 5/8 inch blade but I did have one with a 7/8 blade but lost it a few years ago I have seen them in car boots but not bought.

No need no more .keep eyes our in junk shops or boot sales
