Fitting LED replacement for fluorescent tube

... the new Bedazzled and Boatlamps LED tubes are brighter and better than 2 or 3 of the standard 8w tubes. However, for less than half the price these are just as bright ... http://r.ebay.com/J8aeWs

Thanks for that, I've just ordered one to try. Voltage 12V - 30V, so they have a proper driver, unlike the 5m LED strips.

Yes but using a low cost E-Bay DC - DC converter to feed the complete boat lighting circuits solves the problem of variable voltage thus current in the various non regulated LED lighting.

Stripped out no less than 8 fluorescent assemblies with twin tubes from boat and replaced all with LED strip.
The weight of the tubes and fittings was impressive enough, not to mention the current saving with the LED.
Have 4 more to get rid of when I can be bothered.

Why pay so much, You can get 5metre lengths of the same LED's for next to nothing

This is what I used in some of my lights with cool white in others when I needed brighter light.

I quite like my Tri-lites as they defuse light well, have a switch and allow you to vary brightness from one to three tubes. I've gone for 1 led tube in cabins, 2 in galley and 3 in workshop which is blindingly bright but that's how I want it in there. I've only spent the extra on the warm bedazzled ones for cabins. Everywhere else are the £12 eBay ones.

Arrived today. Looks very bright, now I need to adapt my lamp fittings: anyone know where I can get G5 sockets (T5 tube) that mount on a PCB?
