Fishing in and around the solent

Hi

How many of us in this forum fish in and around the solent ,if so where when how often ,i seem to be the only one out their most of the time fishing .

Well, I'll be off fishing with the annual. Pop group fishing party, on the 20th May. But Plymouth'ish. But what to find to catch!! Think I'll ask Long John to scout for us. Is there such thing as an under water telephone. So we can shout down to him. "OY Underpants, have yer fallen asleep down there. Get yer arse into gear and find the bloody fish"!!!!

Well I've already told you about my big one, if any of your group come up with anything larger than that then I'll come down and scrub your hull and props!

Take em out to the Eddystone or Hands Deep, you're bound to catch something out there.

One was as sick as a dog, last time we went to Hands Deep. Did'nt catch any fish there though. No decent big chart of Ediston so dont dare to go there. But it was March last time so not many fishes about. But now I got the fish finder so much better.

Erm, I hate to be the one to break this to you but, a fish finder doesn't actually find fish....unless it's name is underpants, and even then only sometimes (he can't find lobster to save his life!)...it just shows that they are there or not!

What there's still fish around the UK shores! Never! I thought the scientists had forbbiden all fish to swim around here, so as to not upset the governments fishing (non) policy, ask the Spanish if you wnat to find fish around UK, they're the only ones allowed to fish now.

If it shows they are there then that surely suggests that you (not it) has found them, which must at least
be a help.
cos you woud'nt know they were there if it was'nt for the finder. Then its up to you to catch them

Er Tomo I think you're wrong again, most cheap so called fish finders don't even show the fish! They're fine as echo sounders and for showing the bottom contours. You really need a good quality colour finder that can be manually tuned to see fish (and lobsters!), even then no guarantee of success.

Most fish live around wrecks or reefs that have decent sized ledges for them to hide under. If the sea bed looks flat on the sounder then don't even bother to drown your worm unless you're after mackerel.

Oh. I understand ToMo. If you catch a fish, put a mark on the boat, where you caught it. Its not rocket science!!

That's it Haydn...you've got the hang of it now....but for goodness sake don't remove the mark from the boat or we'll never find the fish again!

Well the daft thing was. The pop group fishers? were all fishing like experts off the back. And me up the fly bridge got board. So slings hook over and catches big fish. Pop group not to happy. So turns it into fish soup and full of bones. For me. Can some one give me a ploy to stop folk wanting to come back. I've been experimenting with SWIMBO for years. is there a secret.

Better than him, Eh? By the way LJ, I've finally found somebody who will make me a wetsuit, or rather found somebody who will get it made, Trident Diving. Trying to find one for my size, has been a nightmare, everbody uses dry suits! I can't see me getting into a dry suit, to check my anchor in Ibiza! Thats why I wanted a two piece, so I coulod just slip the jacket on and leap over the side, well climb down the ladder anyway! Thanks for your help.
