it can be done, but have a pro do it to be sure it is right, the maker may even have an extended length cord available.

The problem is that with all yacht echo-sounders (I'm aware of) the cable forms of a resonant circuit at the frequency of the transducer. There may be an internal adjustement to compensate, or the lengthened cable can be compensated externally with passive components, but either way requires electronics knowledge and equipment to set up accurately. You may find that a small extension only degrades performance by an acceptable amount. Make up a coax extension with appropriate connectors (often TV coax types) and give it a try.
