Fisher owners!! Please be honest...

In case anyone is interested I had a Colvic Watson parked on the hard.
Parked next to me there was a Fisher 25.
And from the side at a distance the 24ft Colvic looked longer.
I put a piece of rope on the waterline of the Colvic and again on the Fisher and the Colvic's hull is longer.
I think the Fisher 25 must include the length of the rudder.

For a while there, I thought your name was "WightMischief". Hmm, Greta Scacchi.

Still haven't bought a Fisher but they're still on my radar, thank you. Everything you say reminds me of why I like them.

Excellent point about the Brunton advantage. I bet very few owners of heavy old Fishers, bother to consider the standard propeller's effect on her pace when sailing...if she seems sluggish, well, that's what they expect, she's a Fisher. But it needn't be thus. :encouragement:

There's a Fisher 37 down in Plymouth that seems to have been on the market for some time, looks ok, but no-one seems to be buying for some reason.

There is one in Mortgage Sur Gironde, France, that I wander past from time to time, gently moldering away, been ashore for a good ten years, got a cost of primer on the underside about five years ago, since then nothing, I often wonder about it, someone must be paying the yard, but I have, so far, avoided temptation, to much work.

I believe the F37 for sale in Plymouth had a boat fall on it causing damage to the mizzen and top of the wheelhouse.

Anyway for all the neigh sayers who believe these boats do not sail here's a video of a 37:

First mate and I were looking at Motorsalers and the larger Fishers were on the list, along with Nauticat's.

The best Fisher we saw was in Nelson, NZ. It was Yard built in ferrocement, had been used as a commercial fishing vessel and was basic and simple. The layout was very flexible as much of the front of the boat was used as storage/fish hold.

But, it was quite expensive for what it was and was in need of cosmetic treatment.

The smaller Fishers were just too small for our needs.

In the end we decided to spend 50% more and bought our current boat. Easy on/off became important as First Mates hip problem worsened. She now has a new one and is recovering well.

Skint but happy............................;)
