First weekend onboard

Have you got any photos of these strips, Anders, and who made them for you?

Cheers, Allan

Allan,

I bought them in Youboat Marine, 023 9252 2226 (Jane always helpful). They're available longer than this, in hindsight I should have gone next size up but will about manage with this size at home berth.

It was Portsmouth harbour master in Rib that came over to complain of wash, so I slowed down to near idle speed. Made me laugh though, as he gunned it to another boat creating far more wash than I was!!

He did the same to us,probably enjoys telling people off,Pratt

Hi Scott,

Sorry I forgot to reply to this. Yes it's the leading edge that catches with lid closed. I did some anchoring at the weekend with dad up front locker open when lowering / raising anchor. The swivel / shackle set up seems to self-right the anchor every time, dad said he saw anchor rotate around. No jams on the all chain rode yet, most I've let out is 25m to anchor in 6m water. Early days yet though, only anchored three times. Rocna anchor has worked a treat, set first time all three times.

I think the red black yellow wires are for the volvo blade trim tabs. I decided against antifouling rudder, I noticed they connect a couple of earths to rudder during factory visit. I didn't want to effect their earthing point by lashing paint over it.

You asked how much fuel engine burns around 3000 rpm, here's the result with clean bum. Speed on the i70 is through water, on E95 SOG (I think).

Hi Anders,

Thanks for the fuel consumption report, I run at abt 21kn SOG at abt 2940RPM on relatively calm conditions, seems as you do, it is good to confirm abt 50lt/hr fuel usage.
The Rocna will not let you down, do you have the 15Kg? I have put sealing strip around the rim on the anchor well lid to stop the sharp edges cutting in to the gelcoat receiving channel, also sealing strip on the underside of the engine compartment hatches as these would mark the gelcoat supports. Also I have put bump rubbers under the lids of the cockpit seats, transom door and corners of flybridge splash screen, small things but just help to keep the boat good.
That is a good picture of the transom area before the deck is fixed, I have noticed with that when the boat is not used for a couple of days, the steering stiffens on the first touch then it is OK for the rest of the day, have you or any other Antares owners noticed this?
I am planning on painting the cockpit boards with Awlwood as they are starting to deteriorate

Hi Scott,

If I remember this weekend, I'll do some rpm vs speed vs fuel runs from 1000rpm up. 2700 to 3000rpm seems a sweat spot depending on conditions, engine sounds like it run forever at these rpms.

Yes Rocna 15KG, that's recommended size for our boat size / weight. Pleased with it so far.

Good idea on the bump rubbers, Paul suggested some for the bathroom cupboard door where it can hit bathroom wall.

I haven't noticed stiff steering, but lost steering last Fri night because of a leak. Connections on tiller bypass valve were loose. Sorted Sat morning by filling both pumps with oil, then steering lock to lock, more oil, more lock to lock.
