Fisrt time out Saturday morning in Popeye. Made sure all the electronics worked then went to the fuelling pontoon. Had a shock when asked to fill her up. £120.00. Let's see how long that'll last.

Brilliant day getting used to her. Cruises well at 20 knts and touched 26knts. Did my first MOB when my cap blew off - all the powerboat training came in very handy. Surprised how much I remembered.

Turns out I may have a dodgy radio, had a converation with Brighton marina, they then tried to get back to me but never heard them - so getting that looked at this week, plus GPS not sending data to radio.

SWMBO had her first outing in the afternoon. It was a liitle rougher than the morning - but no feeling sea sick. YES! So no excuses now. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. My friends have now booked me up for the next 4 weeks. I have now caught the bug and SWMBO too!

Am now looking for places to visit along the south coast, within an hour of Brighton. Any suggestions from the forum?

Eastbourne thats about it 23nm, 24 hrs lock, Asda and some restaurants.
Forget Littlehampton (14nm) unless you like being limited by 2.5hrs either side of HW, though Town Quay is I believe cheap to moor and they have a fun fare

Portsmouth about 54 nm so at least two hrs. Oh and France 65nm

Re: Gatwick

Now that suimmer is almost over, you could put the boat in the med and have a jolly time in warm sea with lots to see within 3 miles, instead of um, not very much within 30 miles, as at Brighton. BUT i hope you have fun.

Re: Gatwick

What do you mean summer is almost over - it's only just beginning. Have thought about the med - but really need something closer to home to gain the experience.

Looks like Portsmouth then.

That's the problem with Brighton, not many places close to visit whereas the Solent offers numerous within easy reach. Unless you get a really perfect weekend I don't think you'll enjoy a long trip to Portsmouth.

A) It will be 3 hours of bumping
B) It'll cost you a fortune in petrol
C) You'll be worried about the weather for the return trip.

I'd suggest you invest in a trailer and come over to the solent for weekends.
