/forums/images/icons/blush.gif FIRST ORGASM /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

I have found it /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif That is the only way to describe the feeling of finding boating. I know you old sea dogs have been at it for years, brought up on boats e.t.c. BUT TO ME, who did not really take an interest in this boating lark, finding it is like a first orgasm. I am so excited about getting my new boat now, I find it hard to sleep at night, it is like waiting for Christmas morning when you were a kid. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif I just need to know how long this orgasm is likely to last /forums/images/icons/blush.gif Becuase I am enjoying every second of it, polishing my kit, like the good old days, oiling and sharpening my knife, preparing the ropes, reading instructions for use of electronic kit e.t.c. I feel like a new man /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

So there you go, hard for anyone to admit their most intimate feelings /forums/images/icons/blush.gif, but what are your feelings now, and how have they changed over the years, including the ups and downs (engines breaking e.t.c.)

Rope is what a moumtain climber would use. Now your on your boat they're called warps, lines and if your a raggies you've got sheets halyards as well. You whipped'em then or sealed them some other way.

Have I made it back onto your favorites list yet, go on, tell me you did'nt crack a smile.

A rope is a sheet when it pulls in sails.
A rope is a guy when it is attached to the windward side of the spinnaker.
A rope is a topping lift when it is attached to the spinnaker pole.
A rope is a preventor when it is attached to the leeward side of the boom.
A rope is a halyard when it pulls sails up.
A rope is a toppinglift when it is holding the end of the boom up.
A rope is a warp when it's attached to the anchor.
A rope is a lanyard when it is acting to secure something (tie the dungy down).
A rope is a bowline when it is attached to the mooring cleat on a pontoon.
A rope is a sternline when it is attached to the mooring cleat on a pontoon.
A rope is a spring when it is attached to the mooring cleat on a pontoon.
A rope is a boltrope when it is sewn onto the edge of a sail (part that goes into the mast track or boom).
A rope is a rope when you're given too much rope too hang yourself with.
A rope is also a rope when it is attached to your propellor and is busy ruining your day.

Got that?

Isn't "Office lunch" the other name for an Amsterdam trip?

It never stops, not for me anyway, don't know about the rest of the mob. You'll find yourself forever looking back over your shoulder when walking away from your boat, and stretching your neck when walking towards it.
Just wait till you do your first sea trip or channel crossing! It takes ages for the broad grin to wane, people think your mad when they see you. A couple of years ago myself and four mates made our first channel crossing in my Princess 32, imagine walking towards five grinning loonies on a dark evening!

Your fun has just begun.

Oh and then theres the............

Syd :)

Re:an affair

I think my boats are like women I treat em like their the world but keep em on the side .
Like a mistress they always want attention, and I love running my hands all over em .
I don't keep em secret not like most affairs cos I just don't care who knows.
The one thing which I don't like is they keep making me go into the bank.

:)

smile you'l be on your boat soon ;-)
