Question:
I am in a position to buy my first motor cruiser & these are my criteria:
I have 50-60k to spend
My wife feels the cold so I think a sports cruiser is out of the question (I think) there are 4 of us, but it would be great to put up more
I prefer shaft drives
I prefer twin engines although not essential
I feel a sealine S23 is not big enough
I would prefer a fly bridge
Cruising area to be Channel, Channel is.Normandy Brittany
Must be good sea boat
I am mechanically proficient ie I dont mind mechanical fettling but not woodwork
I prefer a planing boat
I welcome any/all thoughts

50/60k? well in my opinion you should be looking at boats with an asking price in the region of 70k remember money talks and there is a lot for sale at the moment,if you like what you see then whats the harm in making a cheeky offer!

Good luck

Might be worth a look at Fairline Turbo 36, good boat for the money, bit long in the tooth but well looked after example with right motors should give you good cruising at little depreciation cost, fettle it a little and a few ugrades and you might get more back than you paid which is rare thing in this malarkey.
