Well folks it's been over a month since I got my first motor boat and I thought I'd do a little write up.
I've been out on her every weekend and done around 15 hours so far. A nice cruise is about 20kts burning about 8 gallons an hour.
The only issues so far are the engine hours gauges but I know this is a common fault and the water pump failed yesterday...easily fixed.
The wind and weather protection is very good and she handles a rough sea very well indeed.
Parking the thing is the hard part. I can park a yacht anywhere but this is a lot more complicated. My berth is very easy which is a blessing and I'm getting used to two engines and no rudders....I have a big bow thruster but again this is all new to me.
I'm slowly getting use to how she will behave with wind and tide but I'm still avoiding tight berths for now until I can get her to do what I want.
So far the only issue is the wave slapping at night. I've never had this before on a yacht and it's really bad on the targa. It's so loud inside it sounds like a hammer being hit on the hull all night long and keeps my lady awake. I've got to find a solution....any ideas.
I got a motorboat because I've done my time at 6kts and I often don't have a whole day or weekend to be out on the water. Now I can go out for a few hours and still get somewhere.
So it's all good so far and I use her whenever I can..and wow I've been lucky with the weather.
