Re: oho so its mrs s2b2 then, not s2b1?

Just an observation from an impartial bystander. With all these 'ex's' in the picture, you sure marriage is the right thing to do!

Yes, you would be mad not to! But ref. the other one, I don't actually need anymore complications in my life.

Carpet tacks and mini flares

It was indeed Joshua Slocum

I read a modern take on the idea...push the carpet tacks/drawing pins or other flat headed nails into a roll of carpet and put that out on the decks before you seek the comfort of your bunk, when morning comes roll it up, easy...it you do some for your deck and around the cocpit you should be fine at night...

Like the idea of pepper spray, imaging fillin' the holes in your gel coat after you've missed a couple of times

I've seen (at first hand) what happens when a white miniflare is fired at...erm, sorry, above a couple of burglars who came into our garden with big dog and bolt croppers....(just before they snipped the padlock to our shed)....they didn't half run when the flare went off! When we reported it to the police, the woman on the end of the phone couldn't stop laughing, the coastguard were amused as well!

Re: fake wallet

I'm available to go down and clean your boat. I'm very trustworthy and will tell you if I find your £300, honest! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Alternatively, you could invite all of us down and we could have a Treasure Hunt.

Re: fake wallet

He may be an Aberdonian, but he's not typical. He did buy me an Irish Black at the Irish Embassey at the boat show despite me being a raggie. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: fake wallet

I used to be a raggie on Dragons and Etchells. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

As for my current boat, I've just had lunch at the pub overlooking it and my bl**dy cockpit roof has caved in or fallen off and I can't get out to it today. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Re: fake wallet

Thats ok, it just makes it easier putting the new engine in. Sorry shouldn't joke about it. If you need somethingh with a bit of oommph to get up over the flow of the river give me a call and i'll stick the boat in, it could do with a bit of a run and I'm getting itchy feet not being out on it in a while.

We have never carried firearms, and never felt the need. Rather than go into a long story, you can read my opinions on WATERMELON's web page.

My story, at http://www.cruiser.co.za/hostmelon2.asp - go 'way down the page to "Piracy"

I also posted a report on a pirate attack from another cruiser - that's at http://www.cruiser.co.za/hostmelon39.asp

One final comment. There has never been a place we've anchored that some local person hasn't come to knock on our boat to sell us something, trade, or just to visit. In the Solomons and Papua New Guinea, it was the chief of the village. When do you pull out your gun? then? yikes!

The short and serious answer to your question

is "Usually very difficult". Amazing as it may sound, foreigners are no more keen on people turning up in their countries with firearms on board than we are. And, by the way, we are'nt.
