Reliable Fire Services in Leigh on Sea, do my stand alones on a free basis as long as you play the game and buy replacements when needed from them. (good prices anyway, so why not)

so would Reliable be the best place to drop in and ask for some advice on fire extinguishers? I have an in date foam extinguisher with the gauge well in the green and a fire blanket, but two dry powder fire extinguishers past their seel by date. i was thinking of replacing them with a CO2 extinguisher as the dry powder ones are supposed to make such a mess (although if i get a fore the mess will probably be the least of my problems)
I see some of their products are SOLAS aporved so presumably they know about boats......

just looked it up on SOLAS and apparently CO2 should not be fitted in accomodation spaces.......so it looks like a new dry powder extinguisher...anyone suggest a good size?

I have the small ones inside the boat, principally to get you out of the boat or tackle something very minor. They don't last long enough for a big event. I keep a 6kg extinguisher in the cockpit locker.

I changed because they were out of date and they don't make the terrible mess dry powder ones do. When I bought them three years ago they were on special offer and got three for about £40 delivered.

I have discussed this with my son-in-law whose company instal and maintain fire alarm systems. He said that Thameside were the people to speak to as they did marine work and had the necessary knowledge. Reliable will check your extinguishers if you take them to them.
