I thing midshipman may be the reason it's so grubby. The little toe rag tends to empty sand from his sand pit into it. Though he denies it of course.

The carving on the transom is nice. Your own work?

I just used a wide paring chisel for the straight letters and worked the curvy bits with a 1/8" mortise chisel. Surprisingly quick really.
I don't think I'll be going into competition with Maritima Wood Carving just yet....

The nicest wood work in the world is let down by the surrounding paint job. Start/finish the painting and then show the pictures again. I am sure the wood finish is fantastic but my eyes are drawn to the decreped finishing. (sorry)

Actually the 'paintwork' is fibreglass. I was too ashamed to admit this in my first post. And it is a bit grubby. I was hoping this would deter thieves since it is stored hull up at the yard.
That's my excuse anyway...
I antifouled the bottom when it was kept afloat on the hamble to deter the dreaded polyps. This is a bad idea. When dragged up a beach it leaves a broad blue stripe in the sand! I can't be bothered to scrape it off.
