Finding all sorts of goodies on TEMU

Different type of customer perhaps?

If you stay on first page of items with TEMU - then the idea its for the 'cheaper' customer can prevail - but scroll on further and you soon see same items - similar prices to AliExpress and even dear old Amazon ...

What I find annoying though is TEMU will expand your searched for item so that as you scroll further - items not looked for appear ... suppose its their way like supermarkets - to get you to look wider ..

I don't see any fanless mini PCs on Amazon at the anywhere near the price I paid on AliExpress. I bought because of reviews on Reddit. The cost of RPi with MacArthur hat and issues with wiring everything up moved me to a Linux mini pic. Not yet installed, but I'll get back in 2 or 3 years and tell you if it went kaput.

I admit to buying cheap bits off Temu but never really spent much money with them and never felt I was cheated.

In the 1990s the EU had the brilliant idea to send manufacturing to the far East and do design work in Europe. They considered the Chinese would not be smart enough to do anything else ...........
Hardly just the EU.
The UK got rid of our manufacturing much sooner and faster than elsewhere in Europe.
And Apple and the like from USA pushed the model of doing brand and design only.

Thatcher wanted a service economy to reduce Union power. The EU wanted to reduce subsidies for "old" industries. But the EU had a view that design (inventiveness) would remain in the EU and fabrication could be done in the far East.

The EU promoted IP rights. But of course IP is a double edged sword - as the Germans found out when the Japanese patented optics in Europe then entered the market. The German optics industry was destroyed, hamstrung by the IP system. The Chinese are utilizing the European Patent System now in the same way. 30% of European filings in digital communications are from China.

For those of us who live in N. Ireland, from June this year we will have a Customs surcharge on goods imported worth less than €150 as we are deemed to be in the EU. This will include goods from Temu, Aliexpress, Amazon, and of course Great Britain generally. So many Ebay sellers will now not ship to NI, and it’s going to get worse.

NI trade:will new EU customs fees apply to NI? - FactCheckNI says not between GB and NI.

It annoyed me, too, before I moved that GB eBay sellers would not send to NI.
