Lopolight have been doing this for years?

?????????

People have been attempting Heath Robinson methods to join the two separate supernova units since inception. It seems odd that nasa didn't see this as the main application from the beginning, nor have they reacted very quickly to customer demand to introduce the tri + anchor.

And yes I am very aware of the lopo light, but struggle to justify 400 odd quid for a pile of 7p LEDs and, granted, a nice metal box that I don't even see up at the top of the mast. I fail to understand your apparent dissatisfaction with my posting.

I still feel the same way at 100 odd quid :D

When they get to £30 I might buy one.

As of last month, Brigantia has been sporting the new NASA combi light at her masthead

Next month, we might even get it wired up!

When you do get it wired up I'd be very interested to have confirmation that it doesn't interfere with vhf communication - either radio or AIS.

This interference problem is becoming something of an issue if you have LED nav lights at the masthead along with a VHF antenna - I'd like to know of any cases of particular brands causing interference.

Anyone else that can contribute confirmation one way or another regarding the interaction of their LED lights and their vhf antenna, I'd be pleased to hear from you - pm or email, or post here.

You'd have thought they would have redesigned the circuit board to save on components rather than just doing what we 'hackers' have already done. :)

My combination is at the top of the mast and within about 30cm of the base of the VHF antenna. I have not experienced and interference so far but ......

Not got the new combi Nasa light but have the previous generation light on the mast for about three years. No probs with VHF/AIS. Have done a fair bit of night sailing in that time and I'm told it is bright and visable even when heeling (which is nice).

Hello Andy, we're doing well, well, other than still not managing to get the sails up yet..

Still next door to you in the sleepy backwater. Would have been your way tomorrow to visit partingtons for some 291i, but not doing any more windows until the sun comes out.

I'm sure Lopolight have a bad reputation on this forum for failures too..... I seem to remember a long thread on it not so long ago.

I don't think the single NASA units were that reliable either......Maybe they've actually sorted that issue now, there must be *some* reason that it took so long for them to make a combined unit.
