After months of looking I finally purchased my first boat... so now the first journey lies ahead. Southampton to Adrossan.
If anyone has any tips on this model of boat or on the intended voyage please feel free to comment.

By sea or land .

Sounds like a cool trip but probably not one to do in a rush. It’s not ideal taking a new (to you) boat on a long trip like that straight after buying it. Get everything serviced and checked. Get someone to check the electronics, renew charts, autopilot, etc. It’s a long way to steer by hand.
Also, lots of spare filters, etc
Do a good sea trial before you leave.

Excellent choice buying a boat with shaft drive. You MOBO guys don't mess around with your first boats do you, I thought the other guy with his 100k 37fter was ambitious but you've bought a house. Good luck with your pretty epic journey!

On a plus side after a journey like that he'll know his boat and be confident to use it once he gets home

That`s a great trip with a few quite long passages. Depending upon your cruising speed and fuel capacity, you will need some fuel stops, to say nothing of rest halts unless you have a large enough crew to press on. Are you intending to make the trip as fast as possible or hoping to take your time and enjoy the great places you could visit on the way?

Good luck with the new boat ?Don’t add the Isle of Man to your passage plan unless you’re making the trip much later in the summer, borders still shut and new COVID cases popping up like daffodils ?

Big boat for a first purchase, well done ?. I’ve not actually heard of this make, but from the picture it looks like a very nice aft cabin boat!

I think I may have looked at buying this boat myself many years ago! Have you had the engines checked out thoroughly? If they are the Cat 3208TA 425/435hp engines, as I suspect, I've heard of them needing overhauls at less than 1000hrs when installed in big heavy boats like this

My Dad owned one he purchased in Majorca , if you have access to motor boat and yachting magazine April 1990 his boat was featured in it when new .
It was 7 years old when he bought it .
It was a different layout inside to yours with the helm on the port side . A solid boat but rolled unless you got it on the plane but was very thirsty , about a gallon per half mile at 18 knots , I think it suffered from lack of development, had too small diameter props with large pitch , it just made 20 knots clean half load of water and fuel .
If you go to Poole harbour it’s on a swinging mooring near the Royal motor yacht club . Spent its winter at Cobbs quay .
Good luck with it .

The best resource on the net to research all issues with this engine (and many others) is boatdiesel.com.

This trip will be as fast as possible, there will be a crew of three. Looking to enjoy some leisurely cruising on the West coast of Scotland

Fuel seems to be 40 L per hour at 10 knot cruising speed with a max speed of 18k

I've engaged two professional boat delivery chaps to crew it up the coast (I lack the experience myself) so it will be an interesting learning experience! I am purchasing the appropriate charts for the Raymarine Axiom and will be sourcing spares such as filters before I leave
