Believe it or not, after 12 years sailing the East Coast, I finally got my own boat to Brightlingsea, Nice isn't it. Apart from the unbelievable weather which made it even better I thought the harbour staff were very helpful even after I left calling them up a bit late.
Motored most of the way each way but hey, who can complain.
Heard a distress call to Dover coastguard from a yacht on fire off South Foreland - hope no one was hurt.
Understandably, loads out on the water - sorry to those who couldn't be out there!!

Is there anywhere "local" you haven't been yet?

Feel ready for the Autumn sailing now :) :)

Not managed Heybridge Basin yet but have stayed on a friends barge based in there.

That's one of our favourite places, Martin the lock keeper is very helpful, and going shopping by dinghy up the canal is a must.

We haven't managed to get any further up the Colne than Bl'sea though, maybe next year.

Have never been through the Havengore channel or across the Raysand gap - both shallow draft routes (although we have been into Heybridge and Woodbridge - also with little spare water!)

The Medway - you haven't missed much. Fairly unattractive, industrial cruising ground.
We kept previous boat there for a year - not attractive like I said. And going somewhere from there is nearly always a slog. And now that the 'overland route' is as good as off-limits... :(
 
I've never taken our boat up to London, though I've been on a friend's boat. A couple from nearby lost much of this season due to a house-sale and had a lovely time up in town for a couple of weeks seeing all the sights we usually never get round to, so I might give it a try one day.
 
I wanted to go back to Snape this year - first time since 1991. Abandoned due to weather...
2012 looking good though.
