Finally, an online Border Force reporting system

Thanks, just went through the registration process, all straightforward, no hitches.
Do you have an AIS number? I was stumped at that one. I have AIS Transceiver on my Ofcom licence but there is no number for that, just a call sign and MMSI. Even a search on the Ofcom site for "AIS number" returned no results. I just put my Ofcom licence number !

I couldn't figure that out either, so I stuck the MMSI in there as that is what the AIS transmits !

I will amend to that - I think you are correct. (For other's info, it asks for MMSI as well in a separate question but if it took my licence number, it will probs take anything !)

Interesting it demands a registration number, yet small ships registration is not compulsory!

It's not compulsory in the UK, but I was under the impression that if you took your boat abroad the foreign authorities would require proof of your UK registration.

If that's correct you wouldn't need to be notifying your return from outside the UK if your vessel weren't registered.

p.s. The RYA page the OP linked to does give link to provide feedback about the form.
 
Looks like there are lots of bits to feedback to the development team, usually a group of people who have no understanding of an application apart from what is on the specification.

Yes as above a member of our cruising fleet emailed me to say

Personally I have already filled in the relevant parts of e 1331 & just need to enter port of departure, intended destination, & date of travel ( I am the only crew so alreay entered) & all is done
So i am happy with that & will use it next week as it is still valid
 
... and the specification will be incomplete because the authors do not know how to write one!
I am quite sure the authors know who to write one, just have little experience of real life. I spent my working life in product development, usually at the end of a 'waterfall' development and it was amazing what got done without anybody having understood the real world. I'd wade in, in my Size 9 boots and say what a load of tosh. Developers got all defensive about their beautifully produced, fully function code that did exactly what the specification said. Thankfully, with the advent of agile development I was able to get in sooner and point out the lack of understanding of the real world, it did lead to some 'challenging' discussions, but as I had safety critical sign off they usually understood where I was coming from.

One interesting conversation with a Programme Director on a multi-million pound project started with, 'I am trying to get this to market and you are stopping me, and ended with, 'thanks for pointing that out we could have killed a lot of people'.
