I would like to install the new membrane sooner rather than later. However it wont be commissioned for some months yet, the new membrane is sealed in plastic.
If I open up the plastic will this have a detrimental effect on the membrane if its not used for say 4 months.

You can install the membrane, however you will need to fill the system with pickling solution to prevent any deterioration of the membrane.

While the membrane is still in it's factory sealed plastic bag it is protected and will last for many months - personally I would leave it alone until you are ready to commission the system. I have kept membranes for over 2yrs in the factory sealed bags with no detrimental effects.
