How many forumites filter their diesel before it goes into the tank? Is it worth the effort?
I recently bought a funnel with a built in filter and wondered if it offered any advantge when filling up with diesel

I just fill straight in to tank , but i use lymington yacht haven who seem to shift a lot of fuel so logically it should be clean , and after 3600 litres last season the rubbish in the filter would not even have filled an egg cup ! . Also i think a lot of boats may have a pre filter and engine filter so unless you get the dreaded bug you should be ok ! ONLY in my humble opinion of course .

Buying from a reliable source that has a large throughput shouldn't be a problem. I don't filter, but I do treat each fill with s****on or similar product. Filters this year were very clean.

Can't help thinking that filtering would slow down the time taken to fill. Putting in 800 litres through a funnel would take for ever.
