Fender size?

Hi I have got a merry fisher 805 and I am looking at replacing the fenders what is the best size? also is it worth getting fender socks?

Was thinking of going smaller on fenders but installing pontoon fenders like this?

Mine are pretty much always hanging over the side except when underway. If the sea is fairly flat I just bring them in onto the side decks, if its choppy I untie them and bring them into the cockpit. Don't see the point of fender baskets etc

I currently have Majoni size 4 (24cm x 70cm) I think I will go for a size 3 they will sit on deck a little easier, The question now is what make do I go for? I assume you get what you pay for.

more important is what size will protect yer topsides, then stow them when underway

I use F2 sized fenders on a 28ft boat.
Any bigger, and I would have storage issues.

I think you are taking it too literally, loadsa dinky fenders are not much use on a lock wall but fewer large ones are
