so whats wrong in shouting ' oi thats my [--word removed--] fender

[/ QUOTE ] Nothing, provided that the word removed would be regarded by your peers as reasonable in the circumstances. The less we object to antisocial behaviour, the more it will happen.

No point in even trying to talk to people like that! They don't deserve to be on the water, let alone own a boat!
So, you should have given him a broadside with all your cannon, then got alongside him before he could recover and cast your grappling hooks, pull him in and boarded him, ensuring that your winch handle connected with his head!
Of course, if you have one of these modern type politically correct ships without any cannon, then you should have rammed him midships and boarded him to recover his ill gotten gains, once again ensuring that your winch handle connects with his head, prior to your casting him overboard!

In my ever so humble opinion, if there were more of the sorts of responses I have described within the yachting fraternity, those ne'er do wells who infest our waters would think twice before leaving their wretched golf courses and clogging up our precious waters!
Yours truly etc
