Hi all,

Starter on the gennie is playing up.

Age old fix (knock it with hammer) has served me well this week while we’re away, but needs proper fixing when we get back.

Anyone know where I can get brushes from to DIY?

Or any preferred company to rebuild for me?

Or how much is a new one?

Any help / experience please folks!
Ta :)

I had the same issue as above and was uneconomical to repair so the auto electrician supplied a new one shown on invoice as a Seat part.

my yanmar 2GM also had a dead starter, took it off (2 screws) and took it to the biggest car/truck electrician shop we have in town, they matched something of a jap small car toyota, mazda don't remember paid less than 100euro and happy.
So take it along they'll match something, preferably get a new gen starter without the "button" as they call it down here (the electromagnet that you now hit with a hammer to get going...)
Alternatively take it apart, a good clean, check the leverage/magnet/bushes, renew, grease, refit.
