taken the engine to bits in my paguro 4000 gennie as it tends to overheat.
the cylinder barrel cooling passages are pretty bunged up. Is there any way to clean them out. Seems a shame to scrap the part as it has only done 8 hours (yes 8) in 14 years. Wondered about pulling out the core plugs and rodding it through etc - anyone tried that and can you get new core plugs?

PS where is the best place to get new bits?

thanks all

Sulphamic Acid is quite good for soaking scale away, but make sure there is no zinc or aluminium immersed. Comes as a powder from eBay. Best used with hot water.

The link provided for the diesel firm is the same as Mitcham Diesels as I mentioned in the PM.

For best results remove the head and barrel , but tricky but can be done without taking engine out.
Soak in brick cleaner then jet wash a few times , you will see the rust come out , you can rod through from the two waterways into the stat housing .
You may find the water tube inlet pipe is corroded and blocked , it may come adrift from the casting .
