Farewell from Simonjk weatherman? Signature too commercial?

Hi all,

Your feedback has been noted. I'm happy for Simon to retain his signature because everyone seems keen for him to keep it as it is.

I did explain this to Simon when the thread was started, but I wanted to let everyone know that we do listen to what you say ...

Thanks,

Laura

Good, a wise move. I for one can now forget about announcing my resignation from the forums. Oh yes! I would have done.

And for those of you who are disappointed that I am not resigning....:p

I agree, but this forum has its fair share of nanny sate lovers, look at the grief people get on the for sale forum.

And the grief the mods get.....

To be fair I did not get involved with this and Laura (as always) handled it as it should have been handled.

Where are my doughnuts..

Just to be clear - we don't allow anyone to use the forums commercially. We certainly wouldn't be asking users to modify their signatures so we could offer a commercial benefit to a company.

The forums continue to remain free from advertising despite pressure to monetise them.

I obviously need to take all complaints about commercial postings seriously so we can make sure we keep this a space for users and not advertisers.

Thanks,

Laura

Thanks Laura. :)

Hi everyone,

Laura responded very quickly to this and for that she get a hearty 'well done'.

It's good to see so many of you supporting what I do on the forum. I do try not to make it too commercial, but as I said earlier, I do need to make a living!

However, my priority has always been, and always will be, to both enhance the weather knowledge of sailors and to provide as much forecasting information as I can.

Your response to this thread has been overwhelming.

I would ask you to keep posting to the thread as when the issue is raised again (which it certainly will be) I can refer YBW back to this thread, thereby saving much extra work!

No response from YBW about my 'weather page' idea yet, but I'm ready to go for it when they are ;)

Once again, thanks to you all for your support.

Simon

You have my full support Simon. I have your site bookmarked on my home and work computers, it is the first place I go to for a forecast.

YBW have informed me that they have received complaints about the signature on my posting being 'too commercial' and have (politely) asked me to remove references to my courses

Who is complaining?

I fully support Simon being on this forum - I always check on his forecasts especially the longer term forecasts - absolutely invaluable.

Time to make and exception and permit him to remain
