FAME Diesel and small fuel lines?

I had much the same down at Asda recently after a lorry had been through, they took hundreds of litres and I only needed a fiver. The fuel was not red though, it was clear. Not sure what the point is, large vehicles use lots of fuel, businesses pay less tax, but we all use the colour we get in the pumps which could quite easily be clear everywhere in 2022.
You wouldn't get much for fiver. ?

In NW Scotland, the last time I refuled (with 70l of marine red) the previous user of the pump, a fish farm vessel, had taken over 5,000 litres.

I can raise you on that :) The ocean going fishing boats in Lochinver take on 40-50 tonnes a time. The harbour supplies red to leisure boats, but it's a kerfuffle for them as their pump cannot run slowly enough for the filling rate that small craft filling pipes can accept. They have to let gravity do the job which is unreliable.

I asked Joe the HM what would happen if red diesel was banned in leisure craft - and he passed on the question to the Highland Region marine superintendent over the road at the council office. The response was that there would be no provision made to supply white diesel in Highland Region harbours as the harbours department doesn't have the funds to install the extra equipment, and the turnover would not make a profit. Joe said that the best that his harbour could do was to use the harbour van to run people to the petrol station in town to collect fuel in cans - as they already do for customers wanting white or petrol. However, that is unofficial and likely to be stopped if a council jobsworth found out.

Interesting, thanks. Currently in Lochinver sheltering from the squalls that are coming through.

I more or less expected that supplying white would be uneconomic. I can vouch for the supply rate from the pumps - even the 'small ' one is difficult to control.
