I am looking at going to falmouth on a long contract, & I would like to find out some info on where I can berth a 10 to 11 metre yacht to live aboard in the area.

I would also need to drive to the Job.

Nice thing is the company will pay for accommodation, so marina would be ok. subject to the Liveaboard option.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks

There is also
Pendenis Marina
Mylor Yacht Harbour, there is people afloat and ashore.
Challenger Marine. 01326 377222
Ponsharden Boatyard 01326372215, low cost, lot of live aboards afloat and ashore, were we keep our boat.
Muddy beach at Penryn, low low cost, live aboards, also Jubilee wharf.
Truro harbour, some live aboards in city centre.

Top two are on web.

These the main Falmouth based live aboards, there is also St Mawes and some on the other side but travelling is a bind to this side of Carrick Roads.

Haydns' in Plymouth, I'd keep the dog anyway! Dogs are not normally a problem in Marinas, as long as it's well trained and poops and pees in the right places. A lot of people like well behaved dogs and if theres other liveaboards around, I'm sure they will walk the dog for you if friendly when your away at work, I would! Great for going to the pub with, especially Labs!

When I was in Falmouth last March there was at least one long-term (>1 year) resident on the pontoons at the Visitors Yacht Haven, which is right in the centre of Falmouth and has decent showers/laundry.

Not a great lover of laphroig, prefer the Bowmore islay, but my favourite everyday tipple has to be Highland Park, Orkney, lovely smooth flavour, do a nice cask strength aswell for special days and friends! Broke my heart having to leave my Lab in Holland, before the passport days! I do still have visiting rights!

We've been living aboard at Falmouth Marina since sailing here from Canada last summer. Shelter, facilities, winter rates, services, and neighbours are all good. Compared to the rest of England, the weather has been great. There are several other liveaboard boats this winter, some with dogs. Don't know the picture for year-round liveaboard as we are planning to move on in the spring.
