Stopped off at Falmouth Haven at the weekend. They are now charging £4/m for a overnight stay!!
I am sure it was only £3 last year.
After visiting checked the other marinas around Falmouth and it looks like haven are now the most expensive. Lesson learnt before the next visit, check the prices first.

it's funny though, I always remember marinas being about a pound a foot, and £4/m isn't far off that so we're doing pretty well given the inflation that's been happening for the past few decades

Its going the same way Salcombe went ........ they soon learnt their lesson though . With high cost of diesel fuel ,bottle gas etc something in the boating world has to give . I quess the manufacturers of anchors with profit out of it though ............ especially Rocna makers ???

We've been priced out of that bit of water...
I did write several letters to local businesses thanking them for their sterling service (genuine), and expressing my regret that I will be unable to spend my money on them any longer, because of the pricing decision at FYH.

I am really saddened by this, because in many ways Falmouth (and its yacht haven) are perfect. But I can no longer justify the cost.

One of the truly special things about the Haven was the wonderfully eclectic community of berth-holders. I wonder how many will manage to afford to remain there.

My advice to give Falmouth a miss .... plymouth offers free anchoring in all rivers ( except the Yealm ,) shelter from all winds ...... even moderately priced weekly mooring on a buoy from Cargreen yacht club .up the Tamar River ...

Koeketiene, thanks for sharing.
Looks like I will need to get practising with the anchor.
Interesting comment on the cost of using a SUP /Kayak in Fowey, they will be charging us to use our tenders next

So a typical 11.9m boat is £33 to overnight on a buoy. It will just mean fewer (or no) visits in future.
there is a "free" anchorage across the river. One may have to tie the tender up elsewhere, though (e.g. against the wall)

Haven Marina is nothing to do with the Harbour Commissioners, so two different price hikes. I reckon that the FHC are missing the point of their remit. They are, afterall, a profit making public entity. I appreciate the need for the port to make a quid but they are starting to take the p*ss. At their Watersport Centre launching facility they now charge £35 to launch and then park the trailer. It is pricing out the ordinary man and pushing others to launch at hitherto quiet locations - clogging roads and beaches. Our postman is an avid diver and has a 6m RIB, he is now selling it as to have a day out on the water will now cost him £80-90. Access to the water is becoming increasingly limited and increasingly expensive around here. I would imagine the same is true elsewhere.

Apologies, trying to multitask - never a good idea. I was picturing the Premier Marina. Should know better as I live here but I rarely use either. That said, it does emphasize the point.
