Can't help you, but am really surprised at your post:- a) never heard anyone say anything bad about any Falcon (22, 23, 27, 275 or the 34) always had brilliant reports to the extent that if a suitably spec'd/priced 27 or 275 came on the market I would be interested and b) I never knew that Falcon had gone out of business - last time I spoke to the broker who specialises in Falcons (Meridian at Hayling Island) I was told that Falcon still existed, but only made boats to order. (Have you tried speaking with Meridian re your problems?).

I bought my first boat, a Falcon 23, this time last year and after a few initial glitches had a great summer out from our base at Conwy Marina.

I thought there would be a car style owners handbook with the boat but similar to you I found there was no documentation.

I got a copy of the manual from the Owners club but that wasnt much use either.

I have slowly been building up details of the various components such as operating instructions for the trim tabs which were sent to me by Bennetts UK distributors. Similarly I have obtained an owners manual for the Volvo Penta engine. Unfortunately all this info is on the boat, in a barn near Preston and not readily to hand to pass on to you.

Once you have got your problems sorted the boat will be fine. This year will be my first full season and I will be checking on fuel costs etc before deciding whether to install a diesel engine next winter. It will be interesting to see how you get on with your replacement engine.

Hi. The falcon 22/23 was on my top 3 list of perfect boats around 12/13 years ago. Love them. Great hulls and well made. Usually came with a aq205 4.3 VP and Dp drive. One of the few boats this size that came with big boat features like sea toilet, full 4 berths, hot water, shower etc.
The only alarm bell that’s ringing in your particular situation, apart from the water ingress and obvious sequential issues that can cause along the years later...is the idea of the GM diesel being fitted as a replacement engine. Although these are Hardy engines in general..._and for a diesel, they have a surprisingly high rpm range...should she still have the original outdrive that was perhaps more suited to the original most likely petrol engine, it’s not often that a diesel dropped in turns out to be suitably for the gearing in the original outdrive. May be lucky though and just a prop pitch change from the usual B5’s to perhaps a B3’s light get you by...but that’s the optimistic side of thinking. Then there is the extra hundred or two kgs in weight at least.
suppose it all depends on how cheap she is. Go in with eyes wide open, I’d suggest and think what else that water ingress might of got to.
