Fairline Targa 44, before i decide, hints, tip, issues?

Thanks for your views rickard but i did not really want this to turn in to a shafts or stern drives thread.
ps; you have just called 50% of the boat owners on here Stupid. :encouragement:

Well we are talking about the Fairline Targa 44 and not boats overall
It was never my intention to call people stupid and the few people on here with this particular boat didn´t have the benefit to choose shafts
So to be clear I don´t find people who drive outdrives stupid :)
The Fairline 44 is a big and heavy boat for outdrives and they live a tough life plus the fact that DPH outdrives doesn´t last to good in smaller and ligther boats either

If you can't afford the comfort of ips then fine, but don't have a go at those of us who can.

I can´t really see what my economy has to do with this?
If I was the riches man on this planet I would still have the same opinion
It´s all about having less problems and more boating that puts shafts up on the no.1 position
At the end of the day the outdrives and IPS will always give you more problems than shafts

As this boat probably comes with Penta D6 and outdrives or IPS that´s where you need to put the attention. The outdrives break more then they should and the IPS are very expensive to service/repai

Your words, & if you spend the money on regular servicing with a good main dealer they don't miss a beat. The reason so many outdrives fail is people cutting corners by not doing things such as changing bellows every two years without fail. It amazes me when I see posts asking if they can reuse oil etc.

And yet outdrives and IPS persist in larger than ever numbers. Your view focuses on a very narrow margin rather than the whole which has been discussed numerous times before. Why do you think outdrives persist? And can you poke holes in your own argument?

ps; i don't want an itama, flybridge, 62 footer or shafts. :encouragement:
Well, your loss - who are we to argue? :D
All I can say is that when you post a thread on a boat like the T44 asking for potential issues and volvopaul, who could probably write a book on that, replies "Shafts not an option on the Targa 44 , the 47 has shafts", in your boots I would give his subtle hint a careful thought...

If he gets a 47 he will be blackballed from the North Wales mob on application. We already have a boat with shafts in our midst and one palooka is enough

So what? As Groucho Marx would put it, I don't care belonging to a club that would accept me as a member...

Ricard is in Sweden , that seems to have flown over everybody’s head. Does that add gravity to his advice?
He’s obviously not a share holder in VP :)

Sorry but the point is i want a t44 and i was hopping for advice on t44 issues,
you don't have to be upset because;

an itama is an open boat and i need a sliding hard top because where i am, we can have 3 seasons in a day,
i don't like flybridge,
i can not afford to run a 62 footer,
and shafts is not an option on a t44.
so no need to roll your eyes, i don't want a t47  ! i want a t44 or a v42 because that's what suits.

but thanks for pointing out the error of my ways.

We already have a V42 in the group. Fantastic party boat. Acres of cockpit space and it rides the Irish sea chop and specifically the hell that is Conwy Bay extremely well. Just fits in nicely with the typical wave period we get here when things get a bit lumpy.

Is it not you the palooka ,after your boxing exploits on the river last week .

Honestly, dragging a 2 foot wake through the pontoons. Moving on is your tub stocked and wet or is it still languishing on the hard for maintenance?
