Fairline Targa 43 "Marguerita"

Yes, I know this boat. She was berthed next to me at Haslar for a couple of years. Never moved and rarely saw anyone on her. She became really neglected and looked a real mess when she eventually disappeared. I did wonder where she'd gone. To be fair the owner I heard somewhere he'd been ill so I guess his boat wasn't a priority. How's she looking now? I must admit to feeling quite sorry for her not being loved and looked after.

Thank you.

Yes she's a bit of a sorry state at the mo with a fair bit of work to be done to get he back to formal glory. Looks like she was in port solent before hand before lombard was after her back.

Ian, do you mean she was re-possessed by Lombard?

Yes it was. Was owned by a client of mine, I did quite a lot of engine work on her, along with other repairs , then she stood for a couple of years with weed that long it went under the pontoon, very sad sight to see.

Just a update

The under offer was one put in by myself.

I did infact take the gamble and decided to take her on to bring her back to her former glory. I took ownership friday and started immediately. Firstly ripping out the garage floor to tackle the 12v charger and batter system replacing it with a 100a master volt system with mastershunt and 3x 270ah master volt batteries so i could keep a eye on things and give her the power needed. I then took to the faulty 240v system that caused havoc on the survey. Turned out a faulty shore power lead.

Next was them AC units.... With no cold air it was time to check them out. With hot pipework around the top of the compressor it was apparent a water supply issue so i took about finding the pump. When lifting the carpet in the cabin i could hear the pump pulsing. When i finally got up the stuck down carpet there was a nice closed seacock... after opening the pump changed its note and then come nice cold air.

Port side so far has had a cut and polish restoring the deep blue gelcoat and its shine but still the other side to do.

So so far we have achieved a good amount of progress in getting her back to her former glory.

Ian,

Congratulations on your new purchase. Sounds like you're really making progress. It's good to hear that someone is bringing her back to life so she can be used again. I've always liked the T43. Good luck with everything - please keep us updated. Thank you for posting.

Thank you very much

I did have a run up to Yarmouth Saturday and I was very happy with how she performed. Was not quite so happy after I made a stop for fuel ;-(

all the best

I dont in general like Mobo's but you sound so pleased it would be nice to see some photos of you're achievements to date. ie Old & dirty to new look & clean. I remember seeing her when in Haslar & the state she was in.

Friend of my dad bought an e type jag. Rough running. No problem built into the price. Driving it back. Massive bang / backfire. Car ran perfectly! So fortuitous thinks like the sea cock do happen. Congrats. I had a t40 and that was great. T43 is a nice boat
