Fairline Targa 43 fuel burn data

I have a recently acquired T43 fitted with the 74p green monsters. What I'm looking for is the fuel burn information throughout the rev range if possible so I can cruise at a speed that's efficient.
It seems it's not always cheaper to go slower depending on hull efficiency etc etc.

Any information from past or present owners would be very interesting.

Congrats on the new boat, Targa 43 is a nice compromise for a sports boat but big boat feelo on shafts, quite thirsty compared with the T40 on legs but still good for 32-4 knots ish. Have you the Tamd 74Ps' 430Hp or 480 Hp version?

Most T43s' had the 430s' I believe. I expect you will find that most recommendations will be to run at the peak of the Torque curve around 1600 RPM but in reality 2-2200 will give you the best average return as with your Phantom 46.

A friend of mine had 74Ps' in his Targa 48 and he found that it didn't really matter what speed he cruised at as the fuel burn over a given mileage of say 40 N.Miles was the same at 18 or 28 knots. It was the passage time that differed. It's really only WOT that hammers the fuel consumption and efficiency.

I would suggest that you worry less and listen to the boat, she'll tell you where she's happy and it's not always the same. Some days she'll wanna go and others she'll wanna take it a bit easier.

Nice, should go well, loads of torque, good hull and enough weight for a bit of head sea.

Yep, that's exactly the point. Easy to prove too.
Check Fuel - Go to Poole or Chichester at 16 -1800 RPM, guessing around 18-20 knots
Check Fuel - Return at 22-2400 RPM around 26-28 knots and check fuel.

The fuel consumed will be pretty much the same but the passage quicker. Litres per hour will increase of course but mpg will stay fairly similar. I think Volvo suggest only a 200 RPM below WOT. I have difficulty with that but they do make the point I think.

Obviously, you need similar conditions and tidal flow the same for a realistic comparison. Go on the Ebb and return on the Flood if you can, but the main thing will be to get flatter conditions so choose wind and tide together even if it means punching a little at the top of the tide.:encouragement:
