Mates got one with 306's. Should be good for 28 knots plus unloaded, will make a good 25 knots with the usual crap on board. 7 up on the flybridge and 2 down below will make 20 knots only. 306's are a bit smoky and soot the back of the boat up a lot. Use some sort of fuel additive and this helps loads. Very strong boat and a really good ride. Only problem at the moment is rotten fuel tanks. Looks a bugger to change them, will replace with Stainless this winter tho. Oh Yes and check Water jacket on exhaust manifold for cracks and porous areas in outer water jacket. We have had to fit plates over areas on these. Was cheaper than buying new ones.!!!! Otherwise damn fine boat...
I had the fuel tank problem with mine you could put a hammer through the top of the tanks where the water had sat over the years since 1986.
I cant see how you can take out the tanks without taking out the engines easily or removing all of the wood work above .
I actualy fitted larger tanks 1750 litres compared with the original 1100 giving a significantly better range . The tank extensions fit up inside the sides of the saloon.
Get your mate to give me a call if he wishes to discuss.
We had come to this conclusion already. So may take the oppurtunity to upgrade the interior also. I think some swearing will be involved too. Thanks for the reply anyway. Its out at Dartmouth now till March, should be enough time me thinks.
