A friend of ours has a Corniche currently for sale and its a stunner. It really is in immaculate condition for its age, a real eye catcher. Unfortunately its a twin petrol on stern drives hence the price, but at £35k its a lot of boat for the money.
2 v8 lumps by now would be well on the way to scrap unless they have been really nursed over the years, do you have an oil friend who is a sheikh? you would need one!
Buy one with diesels in there getting really good value now, like the p35
Are they really that bad at 4kts - I was thinking about 3gph for both max at tickover.
I know you know your stuff from reading other posts so what is likely to start to go wrong with the V8 - is it the base engine or the marinised bits? The ones looking at have done about 1600 hours.
If its a direct cooled engine then corrosion is the killer to the block and ex manifolds.
Thankyou that makes sense - I guess its going to be hard to guage the state of corrosion from a basic survey!
If its been mostly sitting in fresh water then I assume it may be much better than salt but then again they have done a few hours and will inevitably have done some time on the salt.
