Yeah, most boats we encountered coming the other way were motoring up it, but there was one yacht under sail and it was interesting to watch them tacking aggressively back and forth.

See if you can find out when and with what she was antifouled. If that is less than two years fouling then don't ever buy that paint!

I'll phone the previous boatyard for confirmation, but based upon what I've previously been told, this would represent 7 months of fouling.

Still, good to know that this is indeed a lot of fouling - I feel better about the terrible performance now. While I've heard of parasitic drag I don't think I appreciated until today how literal that term can be!

You were more correct than I would like to admit. The mussels were covering a multitude of sins. The keels look like a 15 year old who uses bacon grease to moisturise, and the keel/hull joints don't look any better. I'll be making a new thread in the next couple of days after I've spoken to some shotblasting places...
