F33 out drives

Hi I'm looking at a F33 2002 and after my survey I was told the out drives need a full service and also the rams that lift the legs have there bushes hardening and need replacing completely with either new or reconditioned.
Can anyone tell me what sort of cost I would be looking at so has I can review my offer for her.

Tell me what model of drive as there was the dpe and SX dp fitted , I'd guess at the so from surveyors report but you nee to confirm .

Dpe does not have rubber bushes in the trim rams .

You would be well advised to get somebody who knows what they are doing (not just a mate who thinks he knows) to check out those drives with a fine toothcombe.
If you get a pair with a history as long as your arm and a big pile of bills detailing the yearly servicing That's every single year from new you stand a fighting chance of having loads of trouble free boating with your new purchase.
Are you sure its not the hydraulic ram seals that are knackered or worse the rams themselves.
Normally cheap quick fixes are done by seller. Pain in the bum, expensive aggravation is always left for the buyer to discover at some point in the distant future when the seller has disappeared well over the horizon.
An acquaintance bought from a chap well known to him, an F33 with a pair of duo prop outdrives.
The seller was convinced the boat was OK and assured the buyer that all was well.
Both where happy bunnies.
The boat needed 2 x reconditioned legs about 6 months later on its first lift out.
Good luck but procede with care.
If it was me I would want that service done by VOLVO agent or known company and any required repairs that surface all paid for by the seller .

Certainly tread very carefully, the quote from the Surveyor means nothing unless they have been properly inspected, I would budget for two recon drives + fitting £3-4K min.

Drive yes. Quick job.
Transom shield no. Dont have to take them out but you do have to jack them up.

Look away and find a boat with shafts, I think that's what oldgit is saying and I whole heartedly agree with him, had outdrives and have shed tears of blood over them never again.

The F33 is an incredible boat for packaging a space. We looked at these several years ago, and were really impressed. While never having helmed an F33, I could imagine that berthing in a breeze could take some practice. In terms of the outdrive servicing, unless there is some serious damage, you should budget about £1500 for the pair. I know that some on here think that outdrives are the work of the devil, but many on here have boats with outdrives, and are very happy with them, but of course they need to be serviced regularly, and ensure that the anodes are in place and working. Prior to my Azi, I had 3 boats with outdrives, and never had any reliability issues.
