What is it with the pub trades obsession with ice cold beer! Have been in a couple of pubs lately that only sell ice cold I had to go without!

Annoys me to the level that I rarely visit pubs for a drink only.
I have a feeble throat which develops laryngitis if I drink much cold beer (I used to think it was a "holiday cold" until the connection clicked).
As Searush says, you can't taste cold drinks anyway, so what is the point?

I have learned my lesson, in future I will only drink armpit real ale at a temperature as close to boiling point as I can

Actually, Phil that is the whole point. Ice cold beers are for people who don't like the taste of the beer. I like a pint of Guinness, but I will not buy the Ice cold version at any price.

Sounds 'exciting'. I was just thinking, in a similar fix would it be possible to rig up a manual pump to the sea water side of cooling system to cool the engine? Bilge/dinghy pump maybe? Or would you not be able to get sufficient flow? Obviously in these circumstances you'd have to bodge it together pretty quick!
