I used to have a hairy Phantom 18 strapped to a 200hp Black Max. Even with or without the bow tank ballasted the boat would chine ride remorselesly. You could never know which way the boat would turn off the back of a wave and it could do up to 60 on flat water.....thus the name of the boat. Anyone else out there with appropiate boatnames? Dave.

My 45ft steel trawler yacht was called 'Near to Joy' as it was an anagram of our 2 names and described our feelings about her. Alas she lives somewhere around Turkish waters now, without me.

Ours is Spirit of Carnival. The last time we left Ramsgate at about 09.30 It was like the Mary Celeste until we got back to the Medway five hours later when the assorted dregs of humanity (or crew as they sometimes call themselves) awoke from their drink induced comas,as we were boarded by HM customs.

We bought a boat and re-named her Sacrafice (yes I know it's not the original spelling, we like to be different) mainly because my husband spent every hour and every bit of money we had on it which nearly sacrificed his sanity (and our marriage) but it's been worth it.

The most appropiateley named boat I ever had was an old wooden lifeboat.I thought I,d bought a classic, but it turned out I,d bought a classic mistake. It was sheathed and there was a Prick inside so the locals called it The Condom.Never change a boats name . I did that too , I,m not supersticiuos but did I have bad luck with that one, but thats another story!
