Any advice on what to do/what to avoid when installing a new wet exhaust system of 50mm interal diameter. Does the hose bend easily and to what sort of radius.

Thanks

I recently fitted this size Vetus exhaust hose and it does not bend easily dont know exact radius but if bent in a loop i guess its about 15" dia ? 7.5 - 8" radius.
By the way it is a B*****d to attach to engine and water traps. Need a lot of patience.
Be carefull of wire when cutting use saw then cut wire with wire cutter. Remember to put jubilee clips on before fitting ?
Take care it does not rub against any sharp edges.

avoid sharp bends...

especially close to the manifold. i was advised to use a steel 135 deg. angle rather than bend the rubber hose as the blast from the manifold could burn through the side if the water supply failed. vetus pipe works well with vetus plastic boxes (waterlock etc). make sure you can get to the drain tap on the water lock.

Vetus claim that their exhaust hose is capable of being bent to a radius of just 1½ times the diameter of the pipe. My conventional 50mm exhaust bends to a radius of about 150mm.

Two things to avoid in an installation are (i) risk of sucking or siphoning water back into the engine on cooling; (ii) an overly complex exhaust run creating backpressure, preventing full power being developed. You may need various bits and pieces in the exhaust line like a watertrap, a swan neck, air vent, silencer depending on your installation. Take a look at exhaust systems on the Vetus site (browse button).

I have 50Ø exhaust on mine. does not bend at all easily but this moght be due to the type of hose and age - the vetus is supposed to be more flexible. I have a "U" bend to the watertrap which has been fabricated in SS tubing, also the gooseneck at the transom. Also the watertrap - obviously all before you could buy such thigs from Vetus etc. But still a b***** to fit onto the various tubing etc. Make sure you use decent hose clips - ASAP do some Heavy duty ones which look good.
I would use proper bends if you have to.
