Need to replace my 18years old 90mm exhaust hoses. Have browsed Vetus, ASAP, Aquafax, Hypehose and prices seem to vary between around £25 per metre to over £60 and they all seem about half the thickness of my existing. They all mention Lloyds Approved, some quote Lloyds No: 96/00126 or 96/00127 followed by (E3) or (E4) but some don't mention the number.
So I'm now totally confused; don't want to waste money but want a good quality product without a brand name premium.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing wrong with vetus product, very easy to use, bend and clamp up etc.

Dak, the numbers you quote are the European Directives that the exhaust has to comply with, and the E3 and E4 are the European Approval authorities who have certified the products. Off hand I don't know what the compliance requirements are, but I guess they are covered by the Recreational Craft Directive. You might find these on the BIS website or the BMF.

Thanks for replies.
VolvoPaul: I'm sure the Vetus product is fine but its over twice the price of all the others - is it twice the quality and life span I wonder??

I haven't looked into it at all so don't shoot me down, but I do wonder if exhaust hose is just Trelleborg industrial hose with a fancy brand printed on the outside.

I'd certainly look into it.
Probably all made by them behind the scenes, so that's where I'd start

I replaced a length of 90mm exhaust hose recently. Youboat in Gosport actually had it in stock.
The heaviest duty stuff I've used in the past has been from Halyard Marine.

Concur with VolvoPaul - the Vetus product excellent to fit and bend - struggled with other not so "flexible" hoses so opt for the Vetus product every time.
