Exhaust Hose Clamps - How tight is too tight?

Hi

I’m refitting my exhaust hose coupling between the exhaust elbow and the transom exit pipe on my VP D4-260.

Q: How tight should the exhaust clamps be? They are sizeable clamps (not jubilee) and I want them tight but not too tight that they (possibly) damage the elbow and/or exhaust transom pipe?

Thanks.

Not sure where you mean but if they're not jubilee clips are they the big jobbies with a nut that pulls the two ends together like the one below? These pull a flange together and, as far as I know, very difficult to overtighten. Even a jubilee clip can (and should) be tightened with a socket.

Thanks @SC35 & @SimonD - I managed to track down a VP document showing that the torque should be 20 to 25Nm for the clamp on the Elbow. I did the lower clamp at a similar torque.

I must admit this was tighter than I had originally done and I’d still like to find a specific torque for the lower coupling.
