Exciting News

I think we should not worry too much about colour, VS, Lakey is a dab hand (geddit ?) with a spray gun. Perhaps vertical blue and yellow stripes, with a couple of black balls on top of a little mast. Oh, and a big flashing light, B1.0s + 0.5s + Y1.0s + 0.5s , to match the colour scheme ?

It would be foolish to change the colour scheme. It has built up an authentic patina over the years which adds considerably to the charm of the vessel.

Could it look as good as this when the upgrade is completed?

Mr. Lakesailor may I suggest that to keep your sponsors happy (when you get them) why not increase the 'hits' by offering your fans the opportunity to "name my boat" ? Of course you'll be giving me my usual %age...

Incidentally who is sponsoring your fenders, is it Goodyear or Dunlop?

Well I think that is a seriously lovely old traditional hull & it should be saved but obviously with such a project you will need to raise some serious money.
Maybe Dylans tactic of generating publicity could utilized.Have you considered converting it to an outboard in a well? Maybe even multiple outboards!:encouragement:

This boat looked like that (op first photo ) a few years ago , now folks pay £1000's to go on her

Sourest bunch of buggers on the West Coast, that lot. I have never, ever managed to get a wave out of them. Perhaps they think acknowledging other boats is below their dignity, but it's not generally how we behave up here, I'm glad to say.

Perhaps they find it a bit weird when they see you waving from a boat on the back of a low loader?
